Dr Tamla Wilke – Billing Changes

From 1st March 2024 all appointments with Dr Tamla Wilke will be privately billed. These changes have been made to enable continued provision of high-quality care.

All patients aged 5 and over will be privately billed.

A $10 discount on the private fee will be offered to all pension, concession and disability card holders on weekdays.

Children 4 and under will continue to be bulk-billed on weekdays, as will GP management plans, health assessments wound reviews and INR checks.

All consults on Saturdays will be privately billed.

Fee Increase – 1st December 2023

FEE INCREASE – from 1ST December 2023

You may have heard recently in the news that the Australian Medical Association has recommended GP’s increase their fees to cover inflation and rising costs.

“The AMA is recommending clinics charge $102 for a Item 23 (Level B) consultation, up from $98.”

However…..

We know people are hurting financially at the moment, so it has been decided to keep our fee increase to a minimum.

Our new fees will be as follows;

Level A (Item 3) up to 5 mins                $60

Level B (Item 23) up to 20 mins            $92

Level C (Item 36) at least 20 mins        $140 – $160

Level D (Item 44) at least 40 mins        $170

Dr Michael Beckett

Dr Michael Beckett

As of 1st March 2023, Dr Michael Beckett will cease all General Practice work at Beaumaris Family Practice. Over the years he has pursued further training in minor procedures, which he currently performs at Beaumaris Family Practice and at a private day hospital. Unfortunately, continuing to do both GP work and procedural work has meant that the waitlist to see Dr Beckett has increased, and urgent procedures for skin cancer removals (and emergency GP appointments) have needed to be pushed back. To avoid this inconvenience for patients in future, Dr Beckett has decided to cease all General Practice consulting, and focus solely on procedural work. He will continue to work at Beaumaris Family Practice, but only doing minor surgery.

We appreciate this is not ideal for many patients who have been seeing Dr Beckett regularly since he commenced at Beaumaris Family Practice in 2007, and apologise for any inconvenience.  However, all the doctors at our practice have access to your patient notes and will be able to continue with your ongoing care. If you decide to move to another practice, we can forward your medical records, if needed. We appreciate your attendance at Beaumaris Family Practice, and look forward to continue seeing you in the future.

Changes to our Billing Policy

Changes to our Billing Policy: From the 1st November 2022:

  1. All Chronic Disease Management Plans will now be bulk billed.
  2. All Mental Health Care Plans will now be privately billed
  3. All appointments after 4:00 pm on weekdays will now be privately billed
  4. Previous billing rules will now be more strictly enforced such that “most” patients will now be privately billed: The exceptions (those that will still be bulk billed Mon-Fri before 4:00 pm) are:
    • All patients under 12 years
    • All Aged Pensioner and Disability Pensioner card holders
    • All DVA card holders

We hope you will appreciate that these changes have become necessary due to Medicare Rebates not keeping up with our ever-rising costs.  We believe that by making these changes now:

  • We will ensure practice viability and improvements into the future, with no scaling back of services.
  • We hope to create more appointment availability for our patients.
  • We will be able to maintain our very high-quality health care provided by an extraordinary group of doctors, nurses and administration/ reception staff.
  • We hope to prevent staff burnout

We apologise to those who are affected by these changes but overall we believe it will provide the best outcome for all. Full details of our Billing Policy are available from Reception.

Please be respectful and courteous to our staff at all times!

Welcome to our new website

That’s right, it was time for an upgrade. Our aim was to make our website as simple and accessible as possible because many patients were asking for help with easier booking options and more information without having to visit the practice.

Thankyou to all of our patients, staff and friends for your support!
